Program Overview

You need a high standard of driving knowledge to pass the ADI theory test. Having a thorough understanding of these topics will help you teach your pupils to drive safely.


The ADI theory test is in 2 parts

Hazard perception

You’ll need to complete a criminal record check and been given permission by the ADI registrar before you can apply for the test.

In addition, the mandatory requirements set by the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) are:

  • A full UK Driving Licence to be held for a minimum of 3 years
  • Not to be banned from driving in the last 4 years
  • Have no more than 6 Penalty points on your licence
  • No previous criminal history
